There have been many signs that the season has finally shifted: the days are getting longer; the weather is warmer and public transport has become unbearably hot. In time for the official first day of summer, we’ve revealed when we personally know summer has made it and a few of our secret summer hotspots. Where will you be spending your time this summer?
You know it’s summer when… London’s parks are packed with people and picnics – cold beers, nibbles and music. I love getting friends together and enjoy when the sun fades into the early evening, so my secret summer hotspot is sitting by Regent’s Canal.
You know it’s summer when… there is a shift in moods – everyone is more relaxed and there is an air of excitement. My summer hotspot isn’t so much a secret, but it’s close to my own home and never a let-down: Pop Brixton. It goes from day to night with live music and so many food choices that you can just keep going back.
You know it’s summer when… although us Brits have all been begging for warmer weather, we then complain that it is too hot! My secret summer hotspot has got to be Queen of Hoxton’s rooftop terrace. It is right around the corner from the office and is always decked out with a quirky theme and amazing decorations. This year, the bar has a Peter Pan takeover!
You know it’s summer when… bottles of rosé, having been stashed away for the long winter months, come out of hiding and become the nation’s favourite beverage. My secret summer hotspot is the Grand Union in Brixton. It has an amazing garden, twinkly fairy lights and Thai-themed huts – divine!
You know it’s summer when… people congregate on pavements to enjoy a drink – even if it’s in the shade or very close to the road, they will be there! My secret summer hotspot is definitely “Cactus on the Roof”, a new Summer Rooftop series at the South Place Hotel. Think Africa meets Ibiza, incredible tunes and a gorgeous view of London.
