It’s bank holiday weekend, one of the most hotly anticipated times of the year, and for once, it won’t be raining, which has added to the hype probably 100-fold. With blue skies promised, the whole of London is eagerly planning an action-packed weekend of activities. So, we’ve joined in and listed our top bank holiday picks.
Notting Hill Carnival
A bank holiday round up obviously wouldn’t be complete without a mention of Notting Hill Carnival, which will see droves of feather and sequin clad revellers flock to London for the weekend. Join London’s biggest street party and immerse yourself in the Caribbean colours, music and flavours that it has to offer.
If you’re looking to escape London, head to the secluded woodland of Lincolnshire where Lost Village festival takes place. With a fantastic line-up of the best comedians, incredible food and, of course, the Lake of Tranquillity, you’ll be in for a great weekend. Our top picks are the Tribal Banquet, cooked by the incredible duo that is Lee Westcott and Elizabeth Allen, a Sunday roast at the Hawksmoor, and of course a G&T in The Botanist’s Botanical Garden.
If Gin is your thing, head over to the Tobacco Dock for London’s Summer Gin Festival. Spanning the whole weekend, the Gin Festival offers up an astonishing selection of 100 different gins. Attend a masterclass, get into the nitty gritty of gin production with one of the many distillers or just soak up the live music and delicious food offering. And, if that’s not enough, you get your very own Gin Festival Copa Balloon Glass on arrival!
With so many activities to pack in, our only question is whether the bank holiday weekend is long enough to fit in all the fun.
