Every year, Stir PR work with a charity pro bono. The team wanted to help those within the local area, the people we pass every day and the communities just up the road from our building. For 2016, that charity is the local branch of Mind, the mental health charity which offers expert support to make sure no one suffers alone.
Mind in the City, Hackney and Walthamstow Forest wanted us to help them raise money for the elderly and vulnerable around Christmas and last night we helped them to do so. Stir PR secured coverage for the Mind charity fundraiser in local publications such as Hackney Gazette, event titles such as All In London and The Nudge, as well as a key piece of consumer coverage in Hello! Online.
From 5pm yesterday, we occupied the Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch with mulled wine, a Christmas tree sale and the fabulous soon to be big-time five-piece brass band Quintetta. With the smell of pine trees and mulled wine in the air, people filled our donation buckets and bought raffle tickets whilst bobbing and humming along to the Christmas classics.
Once the crowd had gathered, we shifted the evening round the corner to Ely’s Yard where our very own Christmas market took residence to continue fundraising.
We enjoyed music by the Hackney Community Voices whilst feasting on what the food and drink trucks had to offer and wandered around the trade stalls that came out especially for the Mind fundraiser.
We ended the festive fundraiser with an element of suspense as the crowd waited (not-so) patiently to see if they’d won in the raffle. We even had one lucky Stir winner and thanks to The Frog, our very own Senior Account Manager Hannah Sweeney will enjoy a delicious dinner for two – maybe she will take one of us (hint hint).
As the donations are being counted this morning, we want to thank everyone who came down to show their support for Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest; rest assured, your contributions are going to a fantastic cause!
