To many, Sassicaia is synonymous with luxury and quality, known as one of the most sought after fine wines in the world. So, when Armit Wines, the exclusive UK supplier of Sassicaia approached Stir to help launch the 2014 Vintage in Covent Garden, we jumped at the chance.
Sassicaia started as an experiment in excellence by the Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta in the 1940’s. This phenomenal, revolutionary wine was kept strictly for familial consumption until 1968 when it was released commercially for the first time to huge international acclaim. Working with his granddaughter, Priscilla Incisa Della Rocchetta, Stir helped launch the Sassicaia 2014 Vintage through a series of events; consisting of a morning Sommelier tasting, an afternoon one-to-one tasting with wine writers and an evening press dinner.
Café Murano proved the perfect venue with its provincial Italian ambiance and a beautifully crafted four-course menu created by Michelin starred chef Angela Hartnett.
In the words of Armit Wines’ Head of Buying, James Snoxell, “The 2014 Sassicaia is beautifully elegant and complex with wonderful balance and great length”. Applausi, e hanno un bel week-end!
