Last week, the Stir team took to the Highlands to visit the beautiful Balblair Distillery for a day of clay pigeon shooting, whisky and other Scottish delights!
Joined by friends from Port Magazine, The Holborn, Whisky Quarterly and Gentleman’s Journal we set off on our whistle stop tour after landing in a surprisingly sunny Inverness. From there, we were whisked away to Brahan Estate and, before we knew it, were deep in the Scottish wilderness with Ray, our clay pigeon shooting guide. Despite claiming to have never ‘shot’ before, ALL guests managed to aim 4 or 5/5 shots, whilst the PR whose great idea it was, was left with a slightly bruised face and only one pigeon down!
It was then on to the Distillery to meet the charming Distillery Manager, John MacDonald. After an informative tour, we were ready for our tasting so spent the next few hours exploring the different Vintage expressions released by Balblair, whilst comparing and contrasting each flavour profile. From banana, to Christmas cake, honey and spice, it was a very pleasurable way to spend a Thursday afternoon!
